Ganesh is probably the most popular god of all Hindu gods. He represents
wisdom and is united with Siddhi (perfection) and Buddhi (divine knowledge). He
is the remover of all obstacles and is therefore called upon for all different
kinds of enterprises and business queries.
Ganesha har ett elefanthuvud, 4 armar och en enorm mage som innesluter universum i hela dess väldighet.
Enligt legenden fick han sitt elefanthuvud av misstag när hans far, Shiva kom hem efter en lång resa. Han hade aldrig träffat sin son och trodde därför att Ganesha var Parvatis älskare. Därför högg Shiva av Ganeshas huvud. När Parvati fick reda på detta blev hon rasande och befallde Shiva att hitta ett nytt huvud till deras son. Shiva gav sig iväg på jakt efter ett nytt huvud och det första han stötte på var en stor elefant. Han tog elefantens huvud och satte där Ganeshas hubud en gång suttit. Parvatis fick också Shiva att lova att Ganesha skulle vara den Gud man tillbad först, därför nämner man alltid Ganesha först i bönerna.
