Purple Jade is a rich opaque violet gemstone found in Turkey. Its hardness is between 6 and 7. In addition to jadeite this stone contains a significant proportion of quartz. It was once called "outhouse stone" because a mineral dealer first discovered it in the walls of a rural privy in Turkey.
